Genus - Liriope
Liriope is often known as lily turf. The genus is named for the daughter of one of the phocian river Gods, Liriope. Two readily available species are Liriope muscari (a less aggressive and clumping kind) and Liriope spicata (a fairly aggressive spreader)
Culture - Liriope can grow in sun or shade and in damp conditions Liriope spicata is one of the best ground covers for preventing erosion on steep hillsides It can grow in full sun or deep shade. It spreads quickly if in full sun. It is very good at choking out weeds. Dividing clumps as you go can accelerate the filling in process Liriope muscari is more clumping and not invasive. Dividing these clumps every few years can help fill an area more quickly.
